BONK is Solana's flagship community memecoin, launched on Christmas 2022 in the depths of the bear market right after the FTX collapse. Half of its total supply was airdropped directly to the Solana community — artists, developers and everyday users — which gave it instant grassroots ownership and made it a rallying point when sentiment around Solana was at its lowest.
